Experience

I have performed multiple placements, providing vital experience in classroom preparation and teaching.

OLSH Kensington

The second of these placements was at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College (OLSH) Kensington NSW. During this three-week practical, I acted as a lab support aid and practical teacher for stage 4 to 6 classes within food technology, design and tech and tech mandatory.

At OLSH, I gained significant technical experience through hands-on involvement in workshops and technical design projects. Working closely with the Design Technology department, I had the opportunity to assist students in various practical tasks, including woodworking, digital design, and laser cutting. I supported the development of student projects from concept to completion, emphasizing the use of software such as Adobe Illustrator and CAD for technical drawings. I also facilitated workshops on tool safety, and design thinking. This placement deepened my understanding of how to effectively integrate technical skills with creative problem-solving in a classroom setting, while fostering student engagement in both theoretical and practical aspects of design. The experience greatly enhanced my ability to teach technical subjects and prepare students for future challenges in design and technology.
